SureTrack community member <strong>Peirs13<\/strong> had a Ford Escape in their shop that came in with the ABS light on, they replaced the wheel sensor but then got a new code saying it had an incorrect component. They posed the question to the community, and with the help of fellow community member <strong>Juniur<\/strong> and others, they were able to resolve the issue quickly.<\/p>\n<p>The following Community Fix summarizes the interaction between members of the community that led to the solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vehicle<\/strong><br \/>\n2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6L<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title<\/strong><br \/>\nCode C0037-4a, replaced rear wheel sensor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Complaint<\/strong><br \/>\nCustomer states that ABS light is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diagnostic Steps Performed\/Parts Replaced<\/strong><br \/>\nVehicle came in with both rear speed sensor circuit codes. Replaced both rear wheel sensors and right rear operates properly. Left rear now throws code C0037-4a &#8220;Incorrect component installed&#8221;. Installed a second left rear wheel sensor and same code comes back. Replaced the hub assembly, which came with another sensor, and same thing, throws code immediately on KOEO test. Tested the circuit and it checks out, checked and tightened pins, no corrosion. I&#8217;ve run into this before with aftermarket parts but this is all OEM Motorcraft parts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Answer from Community Member Juniur<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are 2 different sensors available for these vehicles. The difference is whether or not it is equipped with &#8220;park assist&#8221;. Park assist wheel speed sensors are bi-directional. Non-park assist speed sensors are not bi-directional.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cause<\/strong><br \/>\nWas installing incorrect left rear wheel sensor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction<\/strong><br \/>\nReplaced left rear wheel sensor with correct version.
