Mitchell 1, in partnership with the ATA\u2019s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC), has merged TMC Recommended Practices (RP) into its web-based\u00a0TruckSeries<\/a> diagnostic and repair program to enable users to quickly access the valuable information when servicing commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n

TMC\u2019s industry best practices provide unparalleled technology and maintenance guidance for truck fleets and manufacturers. More than 500 voluntary technical standards are included in the current edition of TMC\u2019s 2022-2023 Recommended Practices Manual<\/em>, covering maintenance, testing, and specification of a full range of vehicle systems such as electrical, tire & wheel, engines, chassis, brake systems and more. Mitchell 1 obtained licensed permission from TMC to incorporate the RP collection in TruckSeries.<\/p>\n

\u201cTMC\u2019s Recommended Practices are extremely valuable to the repair community, both for technicians and service writers and shop managers. However, with hundreds of recommended practices available, only a few might be appropriate for any given job,\u201d said Ben Johnson, director of Product Management for Mitchell 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncluding the RPs in TruckSeries makes it easier than ever for technicians to find specific information with a single search, improving efficiency and productivity in the shop,\u201d Johnson added. \u201cThat\u2019s what Mitchell 1 is all about \u2013 driving efficiency in all aspects of shop operations.\u201d<\/p>\n

TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell noted that incorporating RP content into TruckSeries will also help TMC further its\u00a0goal of even broader industry adoption of these recommended practices, especially among technicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all\u00a0working toward one common goal \u2013 to increase equipment maintenance efficiencies for the commercial truck industry. And, merging the content into TruckSeries will help us disseminate this valuable information throughout the industry,\u201d said Braswell.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe information is top-quality and has set the standards for the truck industry for more than 65 years,\u201d Braswell continued. \u201cEach RP was developed based on real-life experiences by maintenance and supplier personnel, and then subjected to stringent evaluation by TMC members.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through a single log-in in TruckSeries, technicians can access all the information they need to diagnose and complete repairs for any year and make of medium and heavy-duty trucks. They\u00a0can quickly identify and reference the appropriate Recommended Practice(s) for any given job via the program\u2019s 1Search Plus\u2122\u00a0card-based format or through the Service Manual view.<\/p>\n

Once a vehicle is selected in TruckSeries and a particular component is identified, the 1Search Plus view will include an index card for \u201cRecommended Practices,\u201d which will list RP\u2019s that are associated with that vehicle and component.<\/p>\n

TruckSeries continuously updates information as it becomes available and is now being populated with service information on new technologies like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS.\u00a0 New TMC RPs will become visible as they are released.<\/p>\n
