SAN DIEGO, Calif., March 16 – At a press conference held in conjunction with TMC’s 2026 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition, Mitchell 1 introduced an advanced search capability in its TruckSeries repair information suite designed to help enterprise fleets instantly access critical vehicle data for Class 4-8 commercial vehicles.

Kristy Coffman, director of Mitchell 1’s Commercial Vehicle Group, unveiled the “Unit Number Search” feature, which allows technicians to quickly locate repair information using a fleet’s internal asset tag – the unique unit identifier assigned to each vehicle.

“Enterprise fleets manage hundreds or even thousands of vehicles, each identified by a unique unit number painted on the side,” said Coffman. “Unit Number Search enables   technicians to quickly pull up the correct repair information using the identifier they work with every day, helping them find the right information faster and keep trucks moving.”

The feature speeds access to repair information without requiring technicians to look up VINs or guess sub-models. Fleet customers provide Mitchell 1 with a mapping of asset tags to specific vehicles in their system. Technicians simply enter the asset tag into the search bar, and the platform automatically directs them to the correct service information. Automated synchronization between the fleet’s vehicles and TruckSeries ensures the information is always accurate.

Celebrating 20 Years Supporting Online Commercial Vehicle Repair

The introduction of Unit Number Search reflects Mitchell 1’s continued innovation for commercial fleets as the company marks two decades of serving the heavy-duty repair industry.

In addition to unveiling the new feature, Mitchell 1 also used the event to kick off its 20th anniversary serving the commercial vehicle industry with online repair information. The 2026 TMC Annual Meeting provided an ideal venue to mark the milestone and highlight the company’s long-standing relationship with TMC and its members.

Since launching Tractor-Trailer.net in 2006, Mitchell 1 has played an active role in the TMC community. The company was an inaugural partner of TMC’s SuperTech competitions, establishing the Service Information skills station at state and national events using the industry’s first web-based testing program to evaluate how technicians diagnose and repair vehicles using online service information.

Over the past two decades, that collaboration with TMC has helped shape the development of Mitchell 1’s commercial vehicle solutions. Today, more than 500 TMC Recommended Practices are integrated with TruckSeries.

ProDemand Did You Mean feature

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 27, 2025 – Mitchell 1 has enhanced its award-winning 1Search™ Plus dashboard in its repair information products with a new feature called “Did You Mean.” This powerful upgrade helps technicians and service writers find the right information faster by automatically suggesting corrected industry terms when typos or extra characters are entered in the search bar. The upgrades were made to ProDemand® and Shopkey® Pro auto repair information and TruckSeries software for Class 4-8 vehicles.

“A single mistyped word shouldn’t slow down a repair,” said Nick DiVerde, senior director of product management at Mitchell 1. “We know how critical it is for technicians and service writers to get accurate information quickly. With ‘Did You Mean,’ 1Search Plus becomes even more powerful, ensuring every search gets them closer to the right fix. That means faster repairs, more satisfied customers and greater productivity in the shop.”

Searching for the right repair information can often be derailed by a single mistyped character. With “Did You Mean,” users no longer waste time retyping or guessing. The new functionality goes beyond standard type-ahead features by acting as a smart safety net that keeps searches on track.

By automatically recognizing misspelled or mistyped terms, “Did You Mean” instantly suggests correctly spelled search terms, helping technicians stay focused on the repair instead of troubleshooting their search.

For example, the term “alternator” is frequently misspelled in search queries, appearing as alteranator, altenator, alternater, altanator or altinator. With “Did You Mean,” 1Search Plus suggests the correct spelling so users stay on track without wasting time.

“With this enhancement, Mitchell 1 reinforces its commitment to delivering the industry’s most powerful and accurate search experience for auto repair professionals,” concluded DiVerde.

SAN DIEGO, Calif., September 8, 2025 – Mitchell 1 is pleased to introduce Manager™ SE Inspections, a next-generation multi-point inspection (MPI) tool fully integrated with its Manager SE shop management system.  Tailored to the automotive and commercial truck markets, Manager SE Inspections brings efficiency and organization to the inspection process – making it faster to complete inspections, build estimates and communicate with customers.

“Today’s customers expect seamless, mobile-first experience – whether they need service on a passenger car or a heavy-duty vehicle,” said Nick DiVerde, senior director of Product Management for Mitchell 1. “Manager SE Inspections connects inspections, pricing and approvals in one process. It enables technicians and service writers to work more efficiently and makes it easy for customers to approve services with just a few clicks. It’s all about working smarter and delivering a better experience across the board.”

Technicians conduct digital inspections using smartphones or tablets – capturing photos, videos and notes to clearly document vehicle issues. The data syncs with the browser-based Workshop View, where service advisors are instantly alerted when inspections are marked “inspected.” From there, items flow directly into Manager SE’s Job View, eliminating duplicate entry and making it easy to create clear, priced estimates.

Once inspections are complete, customers receive a branded digital report by text or email, including annotated photos, videos, and notes. Customers can review each item and approve or decline services in real time through a secure portal on their phone or computer, making the process simple, transparent, and hassle-free.

“The mobile-first process speeds approvals by putting clear, visual inspection reports directly into the customer’s hands,” added DiVerde. “At the same time, it reduces extra steps for the shop team so they can focus on what matters most – delivering great service and getting vehicles back on the road faster.”

Key Features of Manager SE Inspections:

  • Job View Integration – Inspection items automatically convert into job containers for faster, more organized pricing.
  • End-to-End Workflow – No double entry; just a seamless process from inspection to estimate.
  • Customizable Templates – Create and re-use service-specific templates; technicians only mark problem items while other points default to “green.”
  • Rich Documentation – Add and annotate photos, videos, and notes; stored notes can trigger red/yellow status based on details or measurements.
  • Real-Time Visibility – Workshop View tracks inspections as they happen, giving teams complete transparency.
  • Secure, Remote Approvals – Customers approve line items via secure links in text or email.
  • Built-In Follow-Up – Deferred work is saved in Manager SE for easy tracking and future opportunities.

Nashville, TN (March 9, 2025) – At a recent press conference held in conjunction with TMC’s 2025 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition, Kristy Coffman, director of Mitchell 1’s Commercial Vehicle Group, highlighted the latest productivity features added to their shop management program – Manager SE Truck Edition.

Designed specifically for medium and heavy-duty repair shops, Manager SE Truck Edition works seamlessly with Mitchell 1’s TruckSeries repair and diagnostic software. Its built-in tools help shops run their operations more efficiently, from creating estimates to generating invoices and all stops in between.

During the press event, Coffman highlighted the recent addition of the FinditParts Ecommerce platform in Manager SE – the first-ever online heavy-duty parts catalog that seamlessly integrates with a shop management program. She also introduced the “Job View” feature set, which enables shops to create professional, well-organized estimates and invoices while efficiently tracking profit margins for every job.

“We are excited to introduce powerful business management features like FinditParts and Job View that take our commercial vehicle software to the next level,” said Coffman. “Our all-in-one solution for all makes of Class 4-8 vehicles dramatically simplifies repair processes and shop management tasks. It replaces manual tasks with automation and web-based information tools so shops can track business performance and connect with customers – all from one place – and get trucks back on the road faster.”

‘Job View’ Feature Set: Clear, Organized Estimates & Invoices

The Job View feature enables shop professionals to logically group job-related labor, parts and notes into easy-to-read “containers.” This setup improves on-screen clarity and creates cleaner, more understandable documents for customers to facilitate faster approvals. The feature also enables shops to keep deferred work organized and ready to sell for a customer’s next visit.

“The clearly organized documents improve the customer experience, facilitating transparent communications between the shop and vehicle owners about the work that needs to be done,” said Coffman. “The shop owner can also quickly confirm the profitability of each individual job to ensure they meet performance goals.”

FinditParts eCatalog: Solving the Parts Ordering Problem

The recent integration of the FinditParts online catalog also brings a new level of efficiency to shops, addressing parts ordering challenges for commercial vehicles. FinditParts gives service writers and mechanics instant access to millions of aftermarket parts for semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles with just a few clicks.

“FinditParts makes it incredibly easy for technicians to find and order everything from routine items to hard-to-find parts – all within Manager SE. It’s all about saving time and simplifying the process so shops can focus on what they do best – repairing vehicles,” said Kevin Lydic, vice president of Business Development at FinditParts, who was present during the press conference.

FindItParts robust eCommerce platform features advanced search capability, cross-referencing, and verified inventory. Parts ordering is directly linked to repair orders, estimates and invoices, which improves shop productivity and customer satisfaction.

“Mitchell 1’s strong connection to our customer base provides us with valuable insights into what’s needed to enhance the vehicle repair experience for both shops and vehicle owners,” added Coffman. “The integration of FindItParts with Manager SE Truck Edition is a significant step forward in solving the pain points experienced by our shop locations daily. We are continuously updating Manager SE Truck Edition and TruckSeries to address more challenges in the commercial truck repair sector.”

The diagnostic tool interfaces with the systems on the vehicle to display information FROM the vehicle, including Diagnostic Trouble Codes, input data from sensors, and output data for components including fuel injectors or cooling fans.

As they proceed down the diagnostic path, technicians also rely on information resources like Mitchell1’s TruckSeries to provide information ABOUT the vehicle. The Mitchell 1 information that is bundled within eTechnician includes component locations using high quality photos, connector details and specific component tests. Also included are easy-to-navigate, simplified wiring diagrams that focus on components relevant to a specific diagnosis.

“When you add the TruckSeries’ software suite, technicians will be armed with the industry’s most robust combination of vehicle diagnostics and maintenance capabilities for Class 4-8 trucks,” noted Coffman. “With TruckSeries, technicians have access to a wide range of features including our intuitive card-based interface, driven by our 1Search Plus engine. Users can also quickly reference information about new technologies, such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.”

Additionally, TruckSeries now includes instant access to Recommended Practices, or RPs, developed by the Truck Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations (ATA), as well as color-coded Advanced Interactive Wiring Diagrams; and quick access to industry-standard Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Codes (VMRS) for work in progress.

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 25, 2023) – Mitchell 1 awarded TMCSuperTech 2023 Grand Champion, Doug Nickles, a FedEx freight technician from East Moline, Illinois, a one-year subscription to its TruckSeries repair information software program. With this award, Nickles will have access to all of Mitchell 1’s online maintenance and repair information for Class 4-8 trucks, the company said.

It was the first time that Nickles earned the Grand Champion title at the TMCSuperTech 2023 National Technician Skills Competition, Sept. 18, 2023, at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Four other FedEx Freight techs also finished in the Top 5 of the Heavy Duty track. Wesley Salley of Round Rock, Texas, placed second and Kelby Bentley, the 2019 Grand Champion, placed third.

Mitchell 1 said it was an original sponsor and supporter of the TMCSuperTech National Technician Skills Competitions. They established the testing protocol for and annually administer the Service Information Skills Station, utilizing TruckSeries to assess competitors’ ability to use web-based programs to diagnose and fix vehicles properly. This year’s winner of the Service Information Station competition was Lucas Coyle from Travel Centers of America.

Mitchell 1 testing is also used at individual state SuperTech competitions and TMCFutureTech events, the company said.
